These are worldwide standards. All cameras were in HD including the Super Slow Motion (SSM) cameras. The IBCC (International Broadcast Coordination Centre) was located at Ellis Park. PRODUCTION TEAMSThe FIFA Confederations Cup was produced by two production teams, adapting the HBS “Dream Team” concept, and covering all 16 matches played at the four stadiums. One team covered the venues in Johannesburg and Mangaung/Bloemfontein whilst the other crew travelled between the venues in Tshwane/Pretoria and Rustenburg. The two teams had their own match director. PHILOSOPHYThe HBS Production Plan established clear guidelines for the production of the multilateral coverage of each of the 16 matches, on-screen graphics and feeds. The Production Plan took into account a number of parameters including (but not limited to) the fact that the production style and coverage had to remain uniform and impartial, with no distinction made between better-known and lesser-known teams. The following principles were established for the television coverage:
STANDARD 15-CAMERA PLANThe standard multilateral camera plan for all venues was a 15-camera plan. These cameras were used in the same positions as assigned for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™. MULTILATERAL FEEDSFor the FIFA Confederations Cup, HBS produced and delivered the following feeds:
AUDIO FEEDS PLANThe Audio Production Plan focused on the main elements TVIS (stereo), RIS (stereo), English Guide commentary (clean and mixed, mono) and an emergency feed.
SPECIFIC ELLIS PARK PRODUCTION PLANIn addition to the standard Production Plan, HBS used the FIFA Confederations Cup as an opportunity to test and demonstrate several facets of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ Production Plan including cameras, some of the Multi-Feeds and the gathering of non-Match Day material. The testing process took place at Ellis Park. The following elements were tested and demonstrated:
ELLIS PARK CAMERA PLANThe 15-camera plan formed the basis for covering the five matches played at Ellis Park. On top of the standard 15-camera coverage, up to eight 2010 FIFA World Cup™ cameras were tested and demonstrated to evaluate technical workflows and to develop editorial value for the FIFA World Cup™. The cameras that were used, as per a defined testing schedule, in order to ascertain their value as part of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ camera plan included:
MULTI-FEEDSThe eight additional cameras added to the standard 15-camera plan enabled the testing and demonstration of the following feeds at Ellis Park:
