Francis Tellier, the CEO of HBS, the dedicated host broadcast organisation under contract with FIFA for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™, reported on the world acclaimed success of the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ in Germany this summer at a Special Press Event at Sportel-Monaco.

Francis Tellier, CEO of HBS, addressing delegates at the Sportel Special Press Event in Monaco.

“The production of sports content took a big step forward at the 2006 FIFA World Cup™ in Germany” said Tellier. “Not only was High Definition TV provided by 25 cameras at every match - twinned with Dolby 5.1 surround sound - but New Media took a major leap forward too with effective synergies developed between HDTV production and New Media production. Working on the world’s most popular sports event provides the best possible platform for innovation – the FIFA World Cup™ creates demand that can be harnessed to drive coverage and services to broadcast partners to a new level,” he added.

HBS will undertake an in-depth survey with broadcast partners early next year to fully understand their expectations for the next FIFA World Cup™ in South Africa. HBS will then propose for FIFA’s approval an adjusted concept of feeds and services for 2010.
