The first 2010 FIFA World Cup™ Broadcast Information Meeting was successfully held today, Saturday 24 November 2007, on the eve of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ Preliminary Draw. More than 70 Media Rights Licensees (MRLs) attended the meeting and received general updates about the event and key information regarding the overall broadcast plan.

The BIM was opened by Niclas Ericson, Head of the FIFA TV Division, and Tim Modise, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) Chief Officer of Communications and Marketing, who gave an overview of event preparations. Francis Tellier, CEO of HBS, then presented the current broadcast plan for the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ including details on the IBC site at the Johannesburg Expo Centre (part of the NASREC) in Johannesburg and current assumptions regarding the Production Plan and television standards. Sven Schaeffner, FIFA’s Head of Broadcaster Services, then updated MRLs about new FIFA Broadcaster Servicing Extranet as well as the FIFA monitoring database. The meeting closed with a Q & A session.
