Successful SEA Games Mission In Kuala Lumpur

The 29th SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia concluded on Wednesday, 30 August with all parties involved in the broadcast coverage of the event satisfied at the positive feedback received for the project.

IGBS, working as part of Host Broadcaster SGTV along with Astro Arena, RTM, TV3 and other contracted vendors, had the objective of helping to deliver an international standard broadcast in order to capture the key sporting moments and raise the profile of the Games.

“Thanks to the close cooperation we forged with SGTV, I trust that we reached our target to the satisfaction of all the stakeholders,” explained IBC Project Director Daniel Wlochovski.

Feeds from sixteen of the competition venues relaying live footage of SEA Games disciplines were controlled and dispatched to broadcasters through the Contribution, Distribution and Transmission (CDT) room, where operations were overseen by IGBS crew. Other non-live sports were catered for by IGBS’ ENG crews who captured the important moments from all venues for inclusion in the Daily Highlights programme.

Before the event, IGBS was tasked with handling the design and technical set-up of the International Broadcast Centre (IBC), which was located in the brand new MITEC building, 12 km North West of downtown Kuala Lumpur. The IBC provided working space for eleven RHBs.

IGBS sees its renewed collaboration with the SEA Games as a proof not only of its technical and production know-how, but also as a testimony of the close bond its crew has formed with local SEA region RHBs. “RHBs come to us with some specific, last minute requests, because they trust we will deliver. It takes several years of working side by side to establish such a relationship”, added Production Project Director Mike Wilmot.

IGBS would like to thank SGTV and MASOC, the Local Organising Committee, for their support and assistance during this rewarding mission.
