The IBC & Broadcast Structures department within HBS is responsible for designing, building, operating and dismantling temporary infrastructures essential to the broadcast missions undertaken by HBS. This can be an International Broadcast Centre (IBC) or any other Broadcast Structure. 

The Role

HBS is looking for an Architect to support the department in all design-related aspects for the delivery of the UEFA EURO 2024 IBC in Germany as a starting point. The Architect plays a key role in the design process envisioned as part of the project lifecycle, ensuring a follow-up all the way through fit-out and user arrival, while ensuring, together with the IBC Manager, a smooth functioning of the temporary facilities. The role offers the opportunity to relocate to Germany in 2024 for a period of time and witness the implementation and operations of the UEFA EURO 2024 project. 

Roles & Responsibilities

Design-Related Activities 

  • Liaising with users to identify design requirements and project evolution 
  • Develop workplace designs while ensuring compliance with local regulations 
  • Ensure workplace designs deliver excellent working and performance standards 
  • Resolve technical design-related details with innovative and practical solutions 
  • Adapt existing designs to integrate modifications inherent to the evolving needs of the project and its users 
  • Preparing visual material to help engage different stakeholders 
  • Support in all design-related aspects of the project, i.e., development of a decoration and signage concept 

Coordination and Support Activities 

  • Prepare technical specifications and support documentation on air conditioning, electrical and fire prevention to ensure IBC user requirements are met 
  • Liaise with contractors to ensure design accuracy 
  • Conduct site inspections for quality and design control 
  • Provide client service in the operational phases of the events 
  • Liaise with the maintenance teams to ensure an efficient and speedy follow-up to problems arising on-site

Skills

  • AutoCAD and Office applications, Revit is a big plus 
  • Proficient in the English language – verbal and writing – other languages are a plus 

Education & Experience 

  • Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or similar 
  • Two to five years of experience in workplace design, detailing of interior fittings and/or architectural design
