HBS specialises in the media production, distribution and archiving of sports tournaments. With the transition to cloud-based workflows, HBS is now offering these services through the cloud. This Media Cloud is being used for hundreds of matches per year in the Americas, Europe and Africa.

The Operations Team is seeking Reliability Engineers to own the operation and end-to-end monitoring of live events using our Media Cloud. The role involves working with the internal production team as well as with suppliers and distribution partners to ensure the video signal for each event is received, transformed by the mixing component, and successfully delivered and recorded for archiving. This role is responsible for key functions that occur pre-event, in-event, and post-event.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Deliver live sports events to a high standard
• Respond to issues and queries from stakeholders
• Communicate with the operations team, including the client and match operators about ongoing issues
• Deliver post-event reports to the client and leadership team
• Aid in the development and testing of operational tools that improve efficiency and quality through automation
• Ownership of operational and technical systems, tools and processes
• Creating and maintaining team specific knowledge-base articles and operational training documentation
• Assist in the training and development of new staff

Expertise

• Experience dealing effectively with stakeholders during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure
• Experience working with cloud platforms, particularly AWS
• Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
• Experience in development or technical support
• Experience scripting in modern programming languages (particularly Python)
• Experience in a live production environment with exposure to video encoding, production tooling, and contribution streaming protocols (such as SRT)
• Fluent in both spoken and written English

Location

HBS has offices in Miami, Florida (US), Paris (France), and is headquartered in Switzerland. This is a fully remote position, and we are open to work with freelancers that live in a US time zone (UTC-5 to UTC-8).
